Internet Censorship: Major Truth-Providing Websites Blocked By Asia Netcom To New Zealand Users

Has Chinese-style internet censorship arrived in New Zealand this year? The question is posed because two major news websites, Infowars.com and Prisonplanet.com, both of which are run by documentary maker and radio show host Alex Jones, who is renowned for exposing the truths the mainstream media attempts to conceal, were found to be have been selectively blocked on Friday evening and were still unavailable at the time of writing.

Thankfully, this draconian measure does not effect all internet users in New Zealand however. It appears to be confined to those whose internet server providers, (ISPs), use Asia Netcom for their international internet traffic. Telstraclear, Vodafone and Worldxchange Communications users are not effected, while Woosh, Orcon, Slingshot, Telecom and Ihug users are.

An avid fan of Infowars.com and a 9/11 truth activist, Jeff Mitchell, reported on Saturday that he contacted his ISP, Orcon, to establish what was causing the block, and was advised by a computer technician who did a traceroute, that the break in traffic to the two websites was found to be occurring at Asia Netcom’s router in Sydney. This technician also advised that as Telstraclear used a different route, their customers were still able to access the two sites.

There have been calls for the Internet to be censored and controlled – and for an Internet 2 by proponents of a one world government, or “New World Order.” This is because the internet as it is, is impeding the global elites’ ability to push their tyrannical, self-serving agendas through.

A clear indicator that the internet is regarded as a serious threat to global elite was evident when on March the 18th, 2009 Senator Jay Rockefeller of the Rockefeller dynasty, a family pivotal in the push for a one world government, [1,2] went so far as to suggest that it might have been better if the internet had never been invented and we went back to using pencils and paper, [3]. While it may have seemed like a ridiculous statement to make at the time, it was an indicator of what the global elite are aiming for and a warning. They want to make it increasingly difficult to get to the truth and they want to regain control of all media.

Consequently, it is of no surprise that Infowars.com and Prisonplanet.com appear to have been selectively targeted, as these two sites present a huge threat to the global elites’ operation. They provide access to credible information, from a wide range of contributors, which has been crippling the elites’ agendas. They have been providing updates on what has been happening around the world, including access to the Alex Jones radio show, which is now the most popular radio show on the internet worldwide. They expose that 9/11, the bombings of 7/7 and Oklahoma City, and the underwear bomber, were inside jobs and that, in fact, many terror-related events are government-sponsored. Plus, they have been pivotal in exposing that man-made global warming and the H1N1 pandemic were hoaxes, and that the Federal Reserve bank is taking money from the taxpayers and putting it in the pockets of bankers, and that it should be shut down.

Hopefully, this block is merely a temporary problem. If not, action may be necessary. In the meantime, you can still pick the radio show up at GCNLive.com by proxy, and read some of the Infowars.com/Prisonplanet.com articles on Alex Jones’ other sites which are still available, including Infowars.net, Propaganda Matrix and JonesReport.com. Also, you can use www.ninjaproxy.com to read Infowars and Prisonplanet.com articles. Plus, Prisonplanet.tv is still accessible and you can still access the shop which sells his documentaries via the link here: http://infowars-shop.stores.yahoo.net/faofreprofba.html.

Keep getting the truth out!

In Peace.

  1. A great opportunity to vote with feet – Let Orcon either get it fixed or lose its customers.

They take u much more seriously when it hits their income stream!

  3. This was Orcons responce and access was restored

“To clarify: there is currently an issue with NZ ISPs using Asia Netcom
as an upstream provider getting access to content that is hosted on the
Limelight content distribution network (infowars.com is just one of
numerous sites hosting content on this network). This began over the
    weekend.

We have this morning added a temporary fix that means that Orcon
customers are able to browse these sites as normal, however they may be
slightly slower than normal. We are talking to our suppliers and
Limelight to ensure that normal service is resumed as soon as possible.

I would also like to add that we have never selectively blocked or
censored any website or content. This was simply a technical issue.

  4. So, it turns out that Infowars.com/Prisonplanet.com weren’t being ’selectively’ targeted, and were in fact just part of a wider problem caused by an Australian based node of the Limelight content distribution network playing up.

Of course, the conspiracy theorist might argue that these many other sites were merely collateral damage and that AJ’s sites were the real target. Hard to disprove, of course, like all good conspiracies.

The interesting thing from my point of view is that Alex must have known his site was being hosted by Limelight in Australia (this is something content providers need to sign up for, so it’s not like he could have been unaware), and that a tiny bit of checking on his behalf would have shed far greater light on the reality of the situation than his assertions in the above show that he was being targeted at the ISP level.

With regards to ISPs, AJ says: ‘…there were public statements put out that said we were blocked…’

Can someone point me at one of those?

  5. The problem with conspiracy theories these days, no matter how outlandish a number are being shown to now be true..

Like pretending that USA ship was attacked which got Americans into Vietnam war – conspiracy theory? – nope, shown to be fact
USA Government engaged in mind control experiments – Conspiracy? – nope shown to be fact

  7. I AM YOU – there’s nothing in either of those links that verify AJ’s claims of being ‘blocked’ by ISPs (other than AJ claiming that that is the case — he offers no proof).

In fact, AJ spins even more hyperbole into his version of the story this time around by claiming the ‘block’ of his sites affected all major NZ ISPs, and that only some minor ISPs were unaffected. TelstraClear, a minor ISP?

And, again, he completely fails to acknowledge the fact that his sites are being hosted on the Limelight content distribution network, and that a technical issue specific to the Australian node was at the route of the problem that caused not only his sites, but many others, to be inaccessible to users in Aus/NZ for a few days.

  9. Frank, why are you so sceptical? What are you trying to prove? What are you trying to say? A lot of people in NZ using different ISPs (other than TelstraClear) could NOT access Alex’s sites. This was indeed being blocked in Sydney. It has been traced to there. End of story Frank. The question remains as to whether this was censorship or some other error but most NZ ISPs were NOT letting kiwis surf his sites.

  10. “most NZ ISPs were NOT letting kiwis surf his sites.”

Aye. And we don’t take kindly to not being let our site surfing.

  11. I AM YOU, ewisgsc: you seem to be missing the technical points I have made. To reiterate…

    * NZ ISPs had nothing to do with AJ’s sites being unavailable; there was no blocking involved by them; they (and their users) were unwitting victims of an upstream problem.

    * The outage was caused by a node in Limelight’s content distribution network going offline for a few days. (Feel free to insert conspiracy theories here).

    * Thus, NZ ISPs who used this service (accessed via the Asia Netcom pipe, through Sydney) could no longer access AJ’s (and many other sites) that were hosted on this particular Limelight node.

    * Despite the fact he must have been aware (or could easily have discovered) the technical reasons behind the outage, AJ repeated the assertion that he was being actively blocked at the ISP level, and said there was documented proof for this. This documentation has yet been supplied by anyone.

I AM YOU, you ask why I’m being so ’sceptical’? Surely one of the maxims of this site is to be sceptical? Are you so sure of what AJ says as to unreservedly believe what he asserts above, despite the technical evidence to the contrary?

  12. @Frank:

What do you think about Sen. Rockefeller saying we’d be better off if the internet never existed? What about the asshole at Microsoft who said that we should need govt permission to get online?

And besides, what other sites were affected? I didn’t notice any other than prisonplanet and infowars. Show us some proof

  13. > What do you think about Sen. Rockefeller saying we’d be better
    > off if the internet never existed?
    > What about the asshole at Microsoft who
    > said that we should need govt permission to get online?

I don’t see how that’s relevant to this discussion, but, since you asked: I don’t think we’d be better off without the internet, and I also don’t think we should need govt permission to go online.

    > And besides, what other sites were affected?
    > I didn’t notice any other than prisonplanet and infowars.
    > Show us some proof

  15. False alarm. These things happen. It was on & off last week. Same goes for whatreallyhappened.com. Remember the golden rule Claire: Never assume malice when stupidity is just as likely.

  16. BTW, Alex Jones is not worth the time anyway & I agree with Max and Frank here. Everyone who takes Alex Jones seriously would be doing themselves a favour by reading that article on realzionistnews.com

Jones is misinfo & often disinfo. I don’t care whether he means well or what have you, he’s sloppy & reckless & leads listeners to believing what he says is actually true when most of the time it’s bullshit speculation crap. Jones never speaks about certain topics & ignores the fact that ‘a certain group’ run the media in the USA. His silence about the controllers of the media, given that his site is called “infowars” is deafening.
