   I notice most comments have vanished.

   Here is something to contemplate. In the Timaru Herald it was reported that a helicopter pilot was fined for hovering over the summit of so called Aoraki/Mt Cook.

   It is reported that the cloaked tribunal administrator described the action as “gravely offensive”, and the offence was ”seen as one of sacrilege to those to whom Aoraki/Mt Cook is of central cultural importance”, and that in the summary of facts read to the court, the Department of Conservation (DOC) said the 3754 metre peak represented, to Ngai Tahu, ”the most sacred of ancestors, from whom Ngai Tahu descend and who provide the iwi with its sense of communal identity, solidarity and purpose”.

   Considering their origins are from elsewhere, the claim the mountain represents ”the most sacred of ancestors’ etc must be rejected. Those ancestors are somewhere, but not in the South Island.

   Yes Gerard, the site seems to have been “purged”. Anything relating to the Chch Quakes for instance…and where did Ivor go? Hope you are OK Ivor.
   The comments about Mt Cook and Ngai Tahu, I agree it’s all a bit pretentious Gerard. The Waitaha an d Hawea tribes were here long before NT turned up bent on conquest…only to be conquered themselves by Te Raproha..to re-emerge as a Tax-exempt “Charity” (yeah right) in the 21st Century!
   I wonder how they felt about the meteor that knocked several metres off the top of Aoraki a few years ago then?

   I hadn’t heard of the meteor. Universe is culturally insensitive too. Perhaps they’ll sue the competing religions to force them to keep their Gods in check.

   Here’s something to give you a giggle. A mini-series is due to air soon on the telly, set in post-quake Christchurch, and featuring a certain bar by the name of Pomeroy’s. The ‘regulars’ are being used as ‘extras’ on the production. Perhaps we may get a glimpse of a certain recumbant-riding “Atheist-Skeptic” and self-proclaimed troll playing table-skittles on the “box”?

     The site used to have a little box which when clicked upon displayed all of the categories and headings under which postings were made .. the box has disappeared .. its a bit like sailing without a compass.

     Any chance of its return Admin ??
