ALOHA FROM THE BIG ISLAND OF HAWAI’I 🙂 My first two weeks back have been amazingly wonderful, thanks not only to Sister Pele, the Big Island volcano deity, but to some very lovely friends, Kathy Carr and Barbara Moore. They are each amazing people and are both giving me a place to stay in exchange for the first real art I have done here, a large volcanic sea-life painting for Kathy and a very large outdoor mural with rainbow dragonflies for Barbara’s place called the Dragonfly Ranch.

I’ve been a bit under the weather the past few days as some strange bug is having a go at me, but with only marginal success. It’s forced me to slow down and take it easy, which are two things that I am not known for! But it’s all good.

NOTE ON THE LIVE BROADCAST THIS WEEK; Due to the fact of me just getting used to the time differences and other logistics, I haven’t had a chance to record a new show here yet, but will for next week. This week’s show on ucy.tv could be any of my previous 233 shows that Jules and her technology will have chosen at random.

Below is the text and link for the first show I recorded here in late 2013.

SEAN KING: ASTRONOMICAL AND VOLCANIC PHOTOGRAPHER PAR EXCELLENCE

What I want to do with this posting is honour the life and photography of Sean King. I have marveled at his amazing astronomical, volcanic, and combinations of the two, photos for several years. We had been Facebook friends for a while and I just communicated with him last week. I had asked about the possibility of catching up and accompanying him on one of his expeditions to the active lava flow, and he was quite forthcoming in sharing information.

Sean lost his life yesterday while he and three others were photographing a lava flow from down inside the main crater at Kilauea in Hawaiian Volcanos National Park. Despite his years if not decades of doing this kind of thing safely, a freak combination of factors got him. Apparently massive rains were falling, and the rain caused a large expulsion of noxious steam from the lava which blew over and knocked him out. He was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital in Hilo.

I am still hoping to make to the lava, but I will extra special careful.

BLESS YOU ON YOUR JOURNEY SEAN KING AND THANKS FOR ALL THE IMAGES OF THE BEAUTY AND POWER OF MOTHER NATURE THAT YOU SHARED WITH US.

ON THE BRINK RADIO #48: FIRST SHOW FROM HAWAI’I, 2013

Photography

This is my first broadcast from the Big Island of Hawaii. ALOHA and MUCHO MAHALO. In a very relaxed voice I describe my first few days here in the Puna region, a land of active volcanos, lots of rain, ‘vog’, ‘laze’, hippies, freaks, millionaires, perma-culturists, and the world’s premier astronomical observatory site atop the ‘world’s tallest mountain’, the Mauna Kea volcano, which if measured from the sea floor rises half a mile higher than Everest. The Big Island is no stranger to environmental issues, for example, the geo-thermal energy projects already in place, the release of GE/GMO crops and organisms, as well as radiological contamination from DU deployed on military test sites and the on-going Fukushima mega-release…just across the pond! But no one here seems to be very concerned about it! As my neurobiology is gradually acclimatizing to this somewhat new environment, I may not have covered as many cool things in this first show as I may otherwise have, but I will fill in details next week. I will gradually be bringing in interviews and creativity from a variety of interesting people here, particulary people involved with cetaceans. This show also has whales, dolphins, and coqui frogs. Here at 19.5 degrees north, “…the stars look very different…today…”

I have a lovely partner and 3 very active youngsters. We live in the earthquake ravaged Eastern Suburbs of Christchurch, New Zealand. I began commenting/posting on Uncensored back in early 2012 looking for discussion and answers on the cause and agendas relating to our quakes. I have always maintained an interest in ancient mysteries, UFOs, hidden agendas, geoengineering and secret societies and keep a close eye on current world events. Since 2013 I have been an active member of theCONTrail.com community, being granted admin status and publishing many blogs and discussion threads. At this time I'm now helping out with admin and moderation duties here at Uncensored where my online "life" began.
