Vaccine injury takes many forms, and this year Red Remembrance Day highlights the importance of talking about it openly in its many insidious forms.
Isaac looked down at his legs.
The mosquito bites from last weekend’s camping trip weren’t healing. And the blood blisters on the tops of his feet got worse after each rugby match. They were even starting to get infected and he knew it had nothing to do with his shoes. He wondered if it had anything to do with getting the second vax a few weeks ago…
For some, it looks like skin issues or a compromised immune system that appear weeks after injection. In others, like Emily, it presents as debilitating heart problems that change the trajectory of life.
Read the personal accounts of how Isaac, Emily, and three others with vaccine-related injuries connected the dots here.
Like many who got the shot, Isaac thought he was doing the right thing, and couldn’t hold the possibility that severe consequences–like skin issues and a compromised immune system–would shadow his future.
Potentially, if Isaac and others had known about the adverse reactions people were experiencing, they may have chosen differently.
But when facts are hidden, choice is impossible. The injured deserve compassion, not blame.
Red Remembrance this year is marking the overly strict, inhumane mandates that have hurt many and we invite you to remember with us.
Join the campaign – tell your story
On 15 November at noon, here’s how you can easily take part:
Go to RedRemembrance.co.nz to find an event in your area (or start your own)
Make and display signs that communicate without shouting
Attend an event and wear red!
Add your story and share your pictures on this page
Set up a fundraising page and strive to collect $500 for the vax-injured
Take photos & videos at the event and share with the hashtag #stopthesilence
Bring your hat, sunscreen, and your lunch
And above all, let’s keep it respectful
Together we are creating awareness and lending support to the vaccine injured. If you have been personally touched, share your experiences and talk about the event in your area using your social media and #stopthesilence and #redremembrance
Visit RedRemembrance.co.nz to contribute your story and get ready for a peaceful gathering on 15 November at noon.
