The massive earthquake that hit Mexico late on September 7, killing close to 60 people, is the biggest in the region in almost a century. Seismologists now say the magnitude 8.1 quake was so large it moved the fault up by 32 feet, as the Cocos and North American tectonic plates collided.
The epicenter of the earthquake was off the coast of Mexico and Guatemala, 54 miles southwest of Pijijiapan. It struck at a depth of 69.7 kilometers (43.3 miles), data from the U.S. Geological Survey showed. Initially, a tsunami warning was issued, with waves up to 10 feet high, but this has since been lifted.

Mexico declares three days of mourning after deadly earthquake
President Enrique Peña Nieto says government will help with reconstruction after most powerful quake in a century

Was it natural or triggered? If so, then what was the motivation?
Already I’m seeing the buzzword “Resilient” (that has been hammered to death here in quake ravaged Christchurch) being used in relation to Mexico.
Check out this, and the date: 6th September 2016 One Year ago almost to the day!

Here’s another telltale link, this time 2030 Agenda features; MUST READ! Shades of Christchurch!

“Two years have passed quickly since the adoption of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction kicked off one of the most ambitious projects in the history of the United Nations: the all-encompassing 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
The 2030 Agenda is designed to pull the planet back from the brink. Catastrophe awaits us if we do not wean ourselves off fossil fuels and plan for population growth in a manner which avoids creating exposure to natural and man-made hazards.”
“….Bearing in mind that the worst disasters that could happen have not happened yet, Cancun must become a turning point. The world must scale up action to the level required to build resilience in a century that will test us on the disaster front as never before.”
Sounds like an informed prediction does it not?
