If you hadn’t heard already, 5G service has been a HUGE disappointment and the hits just keep coming.

5G is a Sinking Ship: Slow, Poor Performance and a Power Hog
As it turns out 5G is not all it is cracked up to be. 5G is a “power hog”. Terrible reception and poor performance plague the network. Here are some resources and recent news reports on the way 5G is failing to live up to the hype.
“We speed tested 5G phones against 4G ones. America’s new nationwide 5G networks weren’t much faster — and in some places they were slower.” –Washington Post The 5G lie” September 2020
“More than half a million Korean subscribers have cancelled 5G contracts because of poor connectivity and smartphone power drain issues.” –South Koreans turn against 5G over poor performance
“Verizon’s DSS 5G can be slower than 4G. We explain why, and how to turn off or disable 5G on your iPhone.” -PC Mag “Here’s Why Verizon iPhone Users Must Turn Off 5G Right Now.
” In 2020’s Fastest Mobile Network tests, we found that existing 5G networks were difficult to pick up, and in many cases, were actually slower than current 4G LTE service. It turns out that we aren’t the only ones who found American 5G lacking this year.According to a study conducted by Open Signal between July 1 and September 28, the US suffers from some of the slowest 5G wireless speeds in the world. The United States was compared with 14 other leading 5G markets, and its average download speeds of 52Mbps were found wanting.” -PC Mag Study Finds That US 5G Speeds Are Slower Than 14 Other Countries
“iPhone 12 battery drains 20% faster with 5G: Apple’s new iPhone 12 models prove that 5G can be a serious power hog” -MacWorld News 2020
In this video 5g can be blocked by a hot dog stand, Christmas tree and a pedestrian. Although it ends up being a commercial for low band frequencies (which we do not condone) it clearly shows that 5G millimeter waves are not all they are being cracked up to be.
Of course complaints include more than lackluster performance and high energy consumption. Cities AND entire countries have taken action to ban, delay, halt, and limit 5G installation AS WELL AS issue moratoriums due to health, safety, environmental and economic risks. Additionally, some Americans have accused deployment as being a form of “environmental racism.”
Safer and more secure high speed internet can be achieved with a wired internet connection (see 1, 2, 3) – not 5G, 4G (see 1, 2) or WiFi (see 1, 2). The majority of scientists worldwide oppose deployment. A petition to boycott 5G phones has also been endorsed by doctors, scientists, and telecom whistleblowers.
Martin comments: So, it was worth all the health and environmental risks then? Ahem…
