2021 THE YEAR OF THE FROG PLAGUES?
You know all those jokes – ‘We had Trump, we had Covid 19, the aliens must be next’, well in December 2020, President Trump signed a coronavirus relief bill that included an interesting stipulation – the bill set into motion an 180-day time frame in which US intelligence agencies must tell Congress everything they know about UFO sightings, via an unclassified report.
On June 2021 The UAP Taskforce will gather to testify before Congress on the existence of UFO’s. It is part of changing attitude towards UFOs by the same media who dismissed UFO’s as a ‘conspiracy theory’ as matter of course through out the 1970 to 2000’s. Turns out 2021 is being designated the years of the UFO. At less by the corporate media who suddenly have collectively decided to believe in little green men & UFO’s flying from Uranus.
Except UFO mania began well before 2021.
In 2018 UFO RNZ reported that “A UFO organisation with links to the Chilean government is investigating eight reports of strange phenomena across New Zealand skies this year and says sightings are increasing”. According to UFOCUS NZ director Suzanne Hansen whom RNZ interviewed there was an emerging pattern of reported sightings of UFOs throughout the country, involving ‘corridors’ and ‘hotspots’ and “that many sightings seemed to be associated with seismic events”.
She made her comments this week during the 40th anniversary of New Zealand’s most famous UFO encounter, the so-called ‘Kaikoura Lights’ sightings on 31 December 1978, which were filmed by an Australian camera crew and was watched by millions of people across the world.
Its not just the Chilean Government and UFO buffs looking at Auckland Mahia Peninsular ‘UFO’ corridor links to Earthquakes.
Turns out Auckland University (with a bit of help from the Pentagon’s man) is interested too.
CLOUDY WITH A CHANCE OF MEAT BALLS
(AKA OH LOOK MORE PENTAGON MAD SCIENTISTS).
The observant will note the so called ‘UFO corridor’ begins where the US military financed Rocket Lab launched a Propagation R23D satellite (for experiments in radio signal propagation in the upper ionosphere) for the US’s military ‘mad scientist’ division DARPA (Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency). While Auckland is where Rocket Lab maintain a signals and communication tracking facility and Auckland Space System Program research at Auckland University is conducted into the ionosphere and magnetic coupling which focuses on the earth’s magnetic field or ionosphere has on communications, radio propagation and seismic events and weather systems anomaly’s. Such as those experienced and observed by mass witnesses during the Christchurch and Kaikoura Earthquakes (then known as Earthquake Lightening , dismissed at first by geologist and the media as fake news, but now identified potentially as plasma bolide responding to atmospheric conditions which are now scientifically linked to seismic activity. The APSS Waka 1 project is led by former US Star wars hard liner Dr Neil Paterson and work in conjunction with the US military based Rocket Lab.
APSS-1 was launched to find out “to what extent and how the ionosphere is affected by geophysical activity on Earth, including whether the electrical disturbances that occur in the ionosphere might be correlated with earthquakes. Insights into the ionosphere might also help us better prepare for disruption to communications technologies.”

The QuakeTEC satellite carries a Langmuir probe (A Langmuir probe is a device used to determine the electron temperature, electron density, and electric potential of a plasma) and will measure the electron density in the ionosphere to determine the feasibility of detecting earthquakes in advance. The students will be using their satellites to investigate a debated theory, that seismic activity in the earth’s crust creates signatures in the ionosphere, a region of the atmosphere between 60 to a thousand kilometres above the earth’s surface.

RNZ is not alone in wanting to believe.
The Listener (and the Herald who syndicated Scots piece on its pay to view) published Tom Scott’s article ‘Out of This World Why Tales of UFO’s Refuse To Die (Listener 17/02/2021), one of New Zealand’s educated middle class’s most popular magazine. Scott article begins breathlessly by stating a former high ranking Israeli Haim Eshed had claimed not only did aliens exist but that earth’s leaders had signed a secret treaty with a “Galactic Federation” and Trump knew about it.
An extraordinary claim (regardless of the fact does any one really take Big Douche One seriously) repeated in the Listener with Tom Scott providing not one shred of proof to back up Eshed extraordinary claims.
Scott fails to omit that Eshed’s colleague Isaac Ben-Israel, chairman of the Israel Space Agency, stated Eshed went too far with his claims, which were published in a interview with the Israeli daily Yedioth Ahronoth. They came days just prior to Eshed releasing a book ‘The Universe Beyond The Horizon’ he was keen to promote.
Ben-Israel stated “it has become entirely acceptable over the last decade for serious scientists to believe in aliens, as knowledge of space has increased. Is there intelligent life outside [Earth]? 10 years ago most scientists believed chances are very low. We now believe chances are significant,” he said. This did not mean Ben-Israel stated there’s a ‘Galactic Federation’ and they landed on earth — “this is too much” — but that “much of the scientific community believes the chance of detecting life in outer space is considerable, not small. There is a lot of information gathered by Americans and it’s a matter of interpretation, most people including myself interpret everything reported as natural phenomena; some people interpret it as something different. If you have a very creative mind, you push toward the second option.” said Ben-Israel.
Scott also pointed to the 1978 Kaikorua UFO (the sixth time this forty year bit of history has being surfaced in the New Zealand corporate media since 2018) and the evidence collected by Australian journalist Quentin Foggarty.
Again omitted by Scott in his 2021 article is that the numerous official investigations held at the time which debunked Fogarty material pretty thoroughly. As can be determined easily if your read the RNZAF own report into the Kaikoura UFO NEW ZEALAND DEFENCE FORCE UNIDENTIFIED FLYING OBJECTS (UFO) FILES COPIES FOR RELEASE TO THE PUBLIC.
Strange lights seen in an area where unusual weather conditions and ionosphere abnormally are well recorded not as sexy as little green men from mars
The RNZAF report notes “during the period of the observation, and indeed now, atmospheric conditions over NZ are conducive to propagation of radio and light waves” in addition to pointing out other factors including the manner the event was filmed as undermining the credibility of the material collected by journalist with zero qualification in meteorology or atmospherics.
The so called Kaikoura UFO filmed by journalist on the SAFE air plane based at Woodbourne Royal Airforce base occurred in the same area where the US military coincidently could be found conducting propagation experiment aimed at at heating up the ionosphere and tapping into its electromagnetic field having chosen the location precisely due to the regions unique atmospheric conditions. Known as Long Bank. Research on radio propagation was similar to that being conducted at Mahia Peninsular today and at Canterbury University in the 1970’s 1980s 1990’s and 2000 at location picked for their atmospheric anomalies and propagation qualities.
An article contributed by Owen Wilkes, a physicist at Canterbury University, which appeared in Salinet the Victoria University Newspaper notes “apart from the brief splurges of publicity that surrounded Omega ( Omega Navigation System in New Zealand physicists pointed out that this system would be used by nuclear submariner as an aid to accurate targeting of the Polaris missile. In the end due to public protest the project did not go ahead in New Zealand) in 1968 and Woodbourne in 1970, American military research has largely proceeded free of the limelight in this country. There is however, far more to the American military presence than at first meets the eye. There are often vital strategic reasons behind what would at first appear to be ‘normal scientific investigations”.
A Letter From the public in the 1970s querying if the 1978 Kaikoura UFO had anything to do with
the US Air Force Long Bank Propagation experiments in the same location (National Archives).
“Longbank was a USAF-manned electronic installation located on the RNZAF air field at Woodbourne near Blenheim. Operations commenced in 1962 and continued into the 1970’s (with reportedly similar research by the US Military conducted in Naseby in the mid 1970’s) since under strongly enforced secrecy precautions. In response to repeated newspaper questioning and demonstrations against the presence of the base, Longbank was briefly opened to reporters and students in January 1971” (and closed the moment Wilkes appeared at the gate with an specialist in signals antennas in tow). Equipment then being operated at Woodburne identified by Wilkes included:-

| 2. | A VLF receiver measuring phase and amplitude variation of transmitted signals. |
| 3. | A photometer and other optical sensors measuring air glow. |
| 4. | A HF receiver for reception of WWV. It is thought that this is for monitoring propagation instabilities rather than merely receiving of time signals. |
| 5. | A telluric current electrode array. The recording gear for this was not seen, but the array is visible on air photos. |
| 6. | A microbarograph for measuring short term air pressure variation. Official statements have never gone beyond saying that this station studies ‘aero-space disturbances and their effects on radio communications’ although the Prime Minister did once admit that the ‘disturbances’ might include nuclear explosions. (21/6/63). All the equipment known to operate at Longbank would be compatible with explanation that the base participates in the detection and identification of nuclear explosions in the earth’s atmosphere and in space. This interpretation is fully developed and documented in a paper ‘Report on USAF Base at Woodbourne’ prepared for the N.Z. University Students Association. |
And that is not with out noting in New Zealand that sudden interest in UFOs and the locations where the interest has remerged coincide on both occasion the 1970’s and now precisely where military research related to radio propagation and the ionosphere is now again taking place. Which if nothing else confirms that the area are located in places known for their freakish weather conditions.
While these events are in themselves not 100% proof aliens are not visiting earth. It fair to say that the material regarding these man made attempts to weaponize earth itself are lot more grounded and based in actual fact and authenticated documented evidence in comparison to what Scott and those rolling our blurry image and un-named source as the proof ET are phoning home as proof of a Close Encounter of the Third Kind. In fact the proof for aliens visiting earth itself is in fact no stronger than it was thirty years ago when TVNZ’s bushy eye presenter Dougal Stevens dryly informed NZ the cause of the UFO lights was not aliens invading earth but the witness probably just observed a natural phenomenon.
THE CHANCES OF ANY THING COMING FROM MARS?
It’s not that the idea of extra-terrestrials existing is madness in itself.
Michio Kaku a professor of theoretical physics at City College, author of The God Equation points out the Webb telescope will soon be up up in orbit and “we’ll have thousands of planets to look at, and that’s why I think the chances are quite high that we may make contact with an alien civilisation. There are some colleagues of mine that believe we should reach out to them. I think that’s a terrible idea. We all know what happened to Montezuma when he met Cortés in Mexico so many hundreds of years ago”.
Helen Sharman, England’s first astronaut who visited the Soviet Mir space station in 1991, told the Observer newspaper on Sunday reported that “aliens exist, there’s no two ways about it. There are so many billions of stars out there in the universe that there must be all sorts of different forms of life,” she went on. “Will they be like you and me, made up of carbon and nitrogen? Maybe not.”
CNN also quotes a former Pentagon official who allegedly led “a secret government program to research potential UFOs”, he believes there is evidence of alien life reaching Earth.
The problem however with all of these claims presented by respected scientists or mainstream corporate media is that they simply don’t meet what American astronomer Carl Sagan, often attributed as the father of UFOology, describes as “extraordinary claims needing Extraordinary Evidence” The claims are even openly speculative or provided us with no more evidence than the tales you here down at your local pub which we know is hear say and not actually proven fact.
Arizona University Prof Chris Impey has said astronomers have estimated there are about 30 million Earth-like habitable worlds in the galaxy but that “People are getting ahead of themselves if you like by even talking about the number of intelligent civilisations”. He notes “Some radio and optical astronomers have been monitoring for decades in the hope of picking up signals such as pulsed radio or optical messages and they had yet to pick up signs of an intelligent entity. It’s been going for over half a century and it hasn’t succeeded so far.”
EXTRODINARY CLAIMS REQUIRE EXTRODINARY EVIDENCE
The 1960 paper by Carl Sagan saying if Aliens have already visited their should be archaeological proof
While Sagan’s 1960 paper however pointed out that any aliens visiting earth would not be traveling across the stars (thus making a search for signals largely pointless) but effectively be traveling through space by using interstellar technology. A forward thinking observation consider it was not be until 1994 that NASA cosponsored a “Workshop on Advanced Quantum/Relativity Theory Propulsion” to “establish and use new frames of reference for thinking about the faster-than-light (FTL) question” and interstellar travel began to be taken seriously. Sagan also suggested in his 1960n paper that the search for aliens may be better focused on looking at earth’s own history to see whether any aliens who had master hyperspace had come calling.
A draft of Sagan’s paper, to NASA, Direct contact among galactic civilizations by relativistic interstellar spaceflight explored models for the distribution of technical civilizations in the galaxy.
Sagan using Frank D. Drake’s equation it suggested that “0.001 percent of stars in the sky have a planet on them on which an advanced civilization resides Sagan suggests the nearest such advanced civilization is several hundred light years away from earth”.
From there, Sagan explored the feasibility of interstellar spaceflight as a means for traversing such distances. The paper ends in consideration of the possibility of extra-terrestrial contact with Earth in the past. The paper was initially presented at a meeting of the American Rocket Society in November of 1962 and subsequently submitted to Planetary and Space Science in December of 1962 before being published in 1963.
Sagan warned that such a sentient extra-terrestrials ‘calling card’ would be difficult to spot and open to interpretation. The inference being such evidence would need to be based upon physical evidence and (selecting as his sample to Sumerian sculpture pieces) that contain evidenced of advanced extra-terrestrial civilisation via mathematics or advanced knowledge of the solar system (Sagan envisioned a sort alien time capsule similar to the Voyager ‘Golden Records’ the two phonograph records that Sagan was able to have placed aboard Voyager spacecraft launched in 1977. The records contain sounds and images selected to portray the diversity of life and culture on Earth, and were intended for any intelligent extra-terrestrials life form who may find them.
Sagan suggest the possibility of life in our solar system and suggested the mystery radio signals located on Jupiter and Saturn ( a planet whose planetary ring, which futurist hope to mine for anti matter deemed essential in interstellar travel, would make an ideal star gate), which feature prominently in all our ancient myths, may be possibly alien in origin. An idea since seized on (but dumbed down considerably) by the like of Zecharia Sitchin and then Erich von Däniken who became prophets for a new age movement that was big on belief but needed little actual evidence to sustain their faith in aliens and flying saucer visiting earth. No serious archaeological study to date has being conducted that demonstrated evidence of any artefact providing actual proof of a civilisation visiting that possessed advanced mathematical knowledge not held by humans. While the intelligence, sophistication, even the length of known history, held by ancient humans is now realised as being far greater than many historians once thought. And so again to date no evidence has surfaced which contradicts the Fermi Paradox.
WHERE IS EVERY ONE
The Fermi paradox, IS named after Italian-American physicist Enrico Fermi, is the apparent contradiction between the lack of evidence for extra-terrestrial civilizations and various high estimates for their probability (such as some optimistic estimates for the Drake equation).
The story goes Fermi’s was having a casual conversation in the summer of 1950 with fellow physicists Edward Teller, Herbert York and Emil Konopinski. While walking to lunch, the men discussed recent UFO reports and the possibility of faster-than-light travel. The conversation moved on to other topics, until during the lunch Fermi allegedly said suddenly, “But where is everybody?” The result of his question was general laughter because of the strange fact that in spite of Fermi’s question coming from the clear blue, everybody around the table seemed to understand at once that he was talking about extra-terrestrials life. Or to be precise the absence of evidence that such life existed.
The paradox states that there are billions of stars in the Milky Way similar to the Sun. With high odds, some of these stars have Earth-like planets. Many of these stars, and hence their planets, are much older than the Sun. If the Earth is typical, intelligent life may have developed on distant planets long ago. Some of these civilizations would have developed interstellar travel, a step humans are just investigating now. Even at the slow pace of currently envisioned interstellar travel, the Milky Way galaxy could be traversed in a few million years. And since many of the stars similar to the Sun are billions of years older, the Earth should have already been visited by extra-terrestrial civilizations, or at least their probes. However, there is no convincing evidence (or at less none that meet the Sagan thresh hold) that this has ever happened. There have been many attempts to explain the Fermi paradox. Primarily suggesting that intelligent extra-terrestrials beings are extremely rare, that the lifetime of such civilizations is short, or that they exist but we have seen no evidence.
So the real question posed in light of failure for the new fad to counter the Fermi Paradox or meet the SAgan threshold of evidence is why is corporate media now endorsing THE idea aliens don’t just exist but are visiting earth now. What has changed between now and then? Why is the idea of bugged eye representatives of the “Galactic Federation” landing and asking to speak to our leader no longer deemed the stuff of tin foil nut quackery.
WHY NOW? – ‘UFO’S? OR INFORMATION WARFARE?
The 2018 Facebook event “Storm Area 51, They Can’t Stop All of Us” (which proved amusing, but ended in anti-climax), as well as the series of randomly placed art installations known as the “mysterious monoliths” have helped propel alien abduction mythos back into the public imagination. While also providing Social Media social engineers and marketing analyst with valuable information regarding how people use and look for information on line to confirm their own belief systems.
And as the CIA archives drip out selectively and the Pentagon deadline draws closer — and anticipation, curiosity and excitement build about the existence of extra-terrestrials — experts warn that these are exactly the kind of headlines scammers and those seeking to plant spyware on phones and computers will take advantage of. As to be anticipated viral posts, which will come with such ‘information’ drops, are likely to turn into successful phishing scams or attempts to plant trojan viruses.
Begging the question is this all simply an experiment in marketing and social engineering? Meanwhile in contrast declassified files relating to the CIA’s and their Soviet counter parts own use of the ideas of flying saucers in the 1950’s and 1960 to conduct experiments in how belief systems form, or to provide a cover or distraction to Cold War military’s own experiments, notably evaporates to a point of being almost non exitance having once being plentiful and easy to find.
So which is it Tom? Do we live in world of aliens galactic federation meeting secretly with a shadowy elite? (Because surely if the aliens exist the Men In Black [MIBs] exist as well) Or have the aliens failed to emerge as they have yet to visit us (or have and now wanted a refund) and the only conspiracies that exist are the man made ones? Those born on earth organically and triggered and maintained by our very human and flawed nature. Not to mention if we are too take Scott and the Neo Liberal corporate media idea, that ETs walk among us seriously (even though we have being given as much evidence to prove this as were given when the same media reported Weapons of Mass Destruction existed in Iraq), then surely its not just MIB that we need to take the seriously and suddenly the idea of global ‘satanic’ elite possessing secret technology and belonging to ancient secret societies does not seem so far fetched. After all one man’s alien is simply another man’s demons in a universe which if Marvel Comics has taught us anything the definition of magic and technology simply depends on your education, understanding of science, or your chosen belief system and what dogma you choose to have faith.
No doubt ‘THE Truth’ is out there’ regarding what the verdict is. Yet so far while the dogma has being strong the actual hard evidence remains lacking and the topic remains open to interpretation and belief.
