A report released by Graphika, a social network analysis firm, on Tuesday highlights a multi-platform influence campaign connected to the CCP government, aimed at shaping online discussions prior to the elections on November 5.
Inconvenient Truths by Jennifer Zeng
This operation employs “spamouflage” tactics, disseminating deceptive or inaccurate information through accounts posing as American to foster discord with anti-government sentiments and engage on contentious issues like the Israel-Hamas conflict, gun control, and racial disparities.
Graphika, utilizing its ATLAS platform for real-time data and intelligence analysis, pinpointed 15 such accounts on X (formerly known as Twitter) and one on TikTok. These accounts, which mimic U.S. citizens and activist groups, target both major political parties, casting doubt on the integrity of the U.S. electoral system.
These accounts consistently used hashtags associated with the U.S., such as #American, portraying themselves as American voters who, despite their patriotism, feel estranged by various issues, including abortion and U.S. involvement in the Ukrainian conflict.
An example from a June 2023 X post reads, “Although I am an American, I am extremely opposed to NATO and the behavior of the U.S. government in war. I think soldiers should protect their own country’s people and territory from being violated, and should not initiate wars on their own initiative.” This message was paired with an image illustrating NATO’s expansion across Europe.
Photo: The U.S. network tracking company Graphika reports that a virtual media outlet, “Wolf News,” closely tied to the CCP, utilizes “deepfake” technology through hyper-realistic AI virtual anchors to produce pro-CCP, anti-U.S. political propaganda videos, which are then disseminated on social media.
Martin comments: Never mind the “Russian interference” narrative that Kamala is about to wind up for another re-run. Stay awake for this kind of Influencer nonsense from China. Thanks for the heads-up Jennifer.
