Air India 171 tragedy continues to be a mystery. Watched the first of Jeffostroff’s analyses on the moment of disaster and was impressed enough to go back for more. We seem to be eliminating possible causes, but what remains? It looks to me like sabotage has been downplayed massively as a possibility. MH

Air India Flight 171: Pilot Error? Did a Piece Fall Off First?
The investigation of the Air India Flight 171 plane crash turned up new evidence raising controversial questions, such as:
Did mysterious debris fall off the plane first before crashing? Did the pilots have the wing flaps incorrectly set before takeoff?
Did the pilots incorrectly retract the wing flaps instead of the landing gear after takeoff?
We will examine these issues and seek answers to these mysteries and get to the bottom of these mysteries.
From the YT comments:
“I’m a retired FAA Air Carrier Inspector, Major Airline CA and military pilot. I’m type rated on several Boeing and Airbus jets. In 40 years I’ve never saw or heard of a pilot retracing the flaps instead of the gear, not once. The gear staying down with the RAT deployment indicates a major system malfunction. Sabotage remains a possibility that no one has discussed. The 787 has a history of thermal runaway on the Lithium Ion Battery, a thermal runaway battery fire in the avionics compartment could explain the RAT deployment. I seriously doubt the pilots caused this accident, in fact, I believe the Captain is a hero for making a controlled crash straight ahead w/o panicking, nerves of steel. I believe the crew performed very well in an impossible situation. An avionics fire that impacted the fly by wire/computers could cause the engines to roll back to a lower power setting. The RAT is the key clue to a major system malfunction that prevented the crew from raising the gear and not having sufficient thrust to climb.” (YouTube commenter suezq1945)
