under a faked external threat to the planet that we are all standing / sitting / lying down on
Set in a 1980’s alternate reality
– the book was free to make harsh commentary on American contemporary history

it was finally realized on the big screen relatively faithfully by Zack Snyder
Director of ‘300’ and the recent Superman redux ‘Man of Steel’
Albeit with an altered ending.
Author Alan Moore asked that his name be taken off the credits.
