Maori TV is showing a collection of short films, each of them 11 minutes, 9 seconds and 1 frame long — made by 11 directors from 11 different countries in 2002, that deal with 9/11 issues. It’s scheduled for Sunday, the 4th of February, from 9pm-11.10pm.
The directors are Sean Penn, Claude Lelouch, Alejandro Gonzalez Inarrito, the UK’s Ken Loach, Mira Nair, Amos Gotai, Egyptian Youssed Chahine, Idrissa Ouedraogo, Danis Tanovic, Iranian Samira Makhmalbaf and Shoehemu Imamura.
According to Seattle Post-Intelligencer Reporter, D Parvaz, artistic producer Alain Brigand conceived the project “to evoke the planetary echo of this event” and the films succeed in doing so, to a point. While some segments are better than others, (and it does not deal with the pivotal issues of who was really behind it and why it was perpetrated-CS), they are all, as a whole, worth watching states Parvaz.
Don’t expect anything too controversial.
