A Durban lawyer who allegedly shot dead his neighbour’s 14-year-old son when the teenager was blowing his vuvuzela, has moved out of his house.
The 35-year-old suspect is accused of killing Asanda Cele of Umlazi BB Section.
Cele, a Grade 9 pupil at Reunion Secondary School, was returning from watching the Bafana Bafana vs France game when he was shot dead.
His father, Sandile Cele, said his son was returning from watching the game at his friend’s house when he was shot three times, twice through the head and once on the arm.
Mduduzi Nkokha, Cele’s cousin, said the accused moved out of his house on Friday.
“After he received bail, he was seen leaving the house with most of his belongings. We don’t know where he has moved to,” Nkokha said.
Police spokesperson, Captain Thulani Zwane, said the neighbour had been arrested and charged with murder.
He said the suspect had told the police he had fired three shots because he thought the teenager was a robber.
He is expected to appear in the Umlazi Magistrate’s Court in August, said Zwane.
