Signs of the times – Factual Updates

Official reports & statistics – Our world in death throes. Check the facts & prepare yourself !
1. WORLD FAMINE & HUNGERMalnutrition remains an unresolved catastrophic world issue The United Nations says there are now over 900 million chronically undernourished people in the world. The effects of hunger are truly horrible. Approximately 36 million people die of starvation every year. (State of Food Insecurity in the World – 2010 report Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations)
2. WORLD WARS & REVOLUTIONSWorld Report says 20th century – one of the most violent periods in human history. According to the World Health Organization’s, World Report on Violence and Health (2000), an estimated 191 million lost their lives directly or indirectly as a result of conflict—and well over half of them were civilians. {GLOBAL JUSTICE 2005 ]
3. DISEASE INCREASING GLOBALLY – Death by infectious disease increasing in US and around the world. Infections make deadly comeback. Infectious diseases, once thought to have been vanquished by vaccines and antibiotics, are re-emerging as a serious health threat both in the United States and worldwide, researchers reported at an American Medical Association press conference in Washington, D.C, [Science News of the Week)
Infectious diseases cause over 300 million illnesses and more than 5 million deaths each year. [Common Infectious Diseases Worldwide] Read more: Common Infectious Diseases Worldwide —

4. MORE FLOODS THAN BEFORE – In the past year, every continent except Antarctica has seen record-breaking floods. Rains submerged one-fifth of Pakistan, a thousand-year deluge swamped Nashville and storms just north of Rio caused the deadliest landslides Brazil has ever seen. Southern France and northern Australia had floods, too. Sri Lanka, South Africa, the list goes on. [CBS NEWS 2011]

5. EARTHQUAKES INCREASING – Planet Earth has experienced a very noticeable up-tick in earthquake activity and intensity. Over the last five years, leading up to the great Japan quake we’ve witnessed the utter devastation from the 2004 Indian Ocean megathrust earthquake and tsunami, the catastrophic Haiti quake, an axis-moving Chile quake in 2010, massive and multiple quakes in New Zealand, and record earthquake swarms hitting Yellowstone and the New Madrid Fault line in middle America culminating with the worst earthquake in 35 years to hit this area, and many more.
Between 1997 and 2007 (incl), a period of only 11 years, there were 99 earthquakes with magnitude 7.0 or greater : This is more than a six-fold increase on the previous similar period – and is a stark increase on any earlier decades in 20th century too. [EARTHQUAKES – WHAT ARE THE LONG TERM TRENDS?]

6. DEVASTATING TSUNAMIS – 8 most destructive tsunamis in history have occurred in the last 300 years. “It’s actually quite frightening to think that this [Japanese tsunami] event is smaller than the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami, smaller even than the 1960 Chilean tsunami, yet the damage is still profound,” says Professor James Goff, co-director of the Australian Tsunami Research Centre

7. THE AGE OF CHEAP OIL IS OVER – US Energy Information Agency (EIA) expects an increasing shortage of supply of liquid fuels after 2012. By 2030 the production of liquid fuels will be half what it is today. With a 10 million barrel a day shortage of oil in 2015, I am projecting a price of US$250–300/barrel. [The Ultimate Energy Paradigm Shift — Danny Hannan, Nov 2010]
In the New Policies Scenario, world primary energy demand increases by 36% between 2008 and 2035. ….A disturbing projection is the rapidly increasing share of carbon emissions intensive shale and tar sands derived oil production. [IEA World Energy Outlook 2010]
The early promise of nuclear energy as a cheap, clean form of energy has never materialized. [World Nuclear Industry Status Report 2009, reported in CNN April 2011]
Costs of nuclear power plants can be as high as $10 billion. The average construction time is seven years, but with licensing approval new builds often take a decade, [2010 report by the CIGI Nuclear Energy Futures Project at Carleton University]

Is it COINCIDENCE that THESE SIGNS were described 2000 years ago by the Messiah?  All that’s missing from the listed facts now – “Great signs from heaven”
