Why has the much hyped hyperloop been scaled back to a Tesla-in-a-tunnel? No doubt many readers will be familiar with the RAND concept for an underground Rapid Transit System and the persistent rumours that the weird rattles and booms coming from underground across the US are a result of either the shuttles in operation or the construction of new tunnel sections. If this is so, then Musk may have been quietly told “no way jose!” to a rival publicly accessible system.

Elon Musk has been widely mocked after revealing the final version of his much-hyped underground transportation project. The Tesla and SpaceX founder’s Boring Company has been building a prototype tunnel system under Los Angeles since 2016 in a bid to relieve traffic congestion.It had been linked to the billionaire’s futuristic “hyperloop” concept of pods suspended on magnets travelling hundreds of kilometres an hour through vacuum tubes. While The Boring Company’s test tunnel did not feature an air vacuum, it promised to create a new kind of private, public and commercial transport system using special vehicles propelled on electric skates. That concept has now been ditched in favour of a more conventional solution — a car in a tunnel. A video released by The Boring Company on Friday shows dashcam footage of a Tesla Model X travelling up to 200km/h through the now-paved tunnel…Asked why the original idea had been abandoned, Musk replied: “This is simple and just works.” Another user suggested tunnels were “great things to run trains through, not cars”.

Remember guys, this was all feasible and discussed openly in the early 1970s…so where did it go? Musk is backpedaling on doing this despite all his resources and backing, almost half a century later!
There are even stories that were circulating in 2011 (which should be taken with sensible discernment) that the Washington earthquake of that year, and subsequent strange sounds phenomena, were caused either by a nuclear accident or deliberate attack/sabotage in these tunnels!
