I have a masochistic streak. Only explanation for my obsession with TV news. Drives me mad, but I can’t stop watching.

Tonight was little different from any other night on the news. Propaganda, misinformation, diversion and extreme bias in reporting as per norm. TV One headlined the White Island Eruption. a welcome change from the months of COVID drivel to be sure, but it’s a six month old story! What are they hiding?

We switched to TV Three’s news, and there it is: Failure of the armed police trial. Good news in other words. Fantastic news in fact after all the totalitarian “police state” measures we’ve been used to. But then the suspicions creep in. Too good to be true?

Police ending Armed Response Teams after trial – Commissioner

A trial of the teams of police carrying firearms were launched in Counties Manukau, Waikato and Canterbury last year and ended in April.

In recent days, mass protests across New Zealand against police brutality – sparked by the killing of African-American George Floyd in the US – have renewed opposition to armed police and the response teams specifically.

Andrew Coster said the decision to scrap the teams was based on preliminary findings from the trial evaluation – which is yet to be completed – feedback from the public, and consultation with community forum groups. “It is clear to me that these response teams do not align with the style of policing that New Zealanders expect,” Coster said.

“We have listened carefully to that feedback and I have made the decision these teams will not be a part of our policing model in the future,” he said.

Is this just a continuation of the narrative moving out of “Lock Step” into the next phase heading towards 2030? For now I’ll take it as good news but retain some healthy caution and skepticism: I’m thinking drones and greater electronic surveillance are on the menu.

Meanwhile the cops get a news mention Stateside for the reason reffered to in the NZ decision. Calls from Minneapolis to “dismantle the police force”. I share Donald Trump’s dismay. Reforms, yes, but no police at all? In a place like Minneapolis where racial tensions run high between Asian and African Americans (as I’ve detailed HERE)? And what replaces the police? Drones? mind control? It certainly won’t be peace, love and harmony any way you look at it without some form of control, and I’d rather deal with human police than Robocop or Terminator any day.

On the same subject, the focus of events in Minneapolis was entirely on Toxic White Poster Boy Derek Chauvan. NO mention AT ALL of his sidekick Tou Thao.

Where’s Tou now? If you read the article in the link above, you’ll be aware of the cryptic references to him having left the State and possibly the country.

“Flees for his safety”? Really? He’s not supposed to leave the State and would be under protection until charged surely? No, this guy has escaped or been evacuated I’d say. “Mission accomplished”? I’d say it’s quite possible Chauvan’s reputation made him an easy target for a setup.
