Martin comments: “Judge not others lest ye yourself be judged”. Hmm… I wonder how this judgmental pontificate would be judged? When did this false preacher last actually read the New Testament? The life of Jesus as depicted in the gospels represents a man who defied and mocked absurd mandates and laws. A man who stood against discrimination and judgement. A man who sought out the outcasts and “sinners” showing them support and compassion. And furthermore, if we are to take these texts literally, a man who performed seemingly miraculous healings that certainly didn’t require a vial of elixir doled out by the authorities.
I am reminded of a specific incident in the NT where Jesus went through a ritual of solitude and fasting culminating in in being tested by “The Tempter” (usually portrayed as Satan). He is taken to a high place and shown the world spread out below. He is offered all this in exchange for obedience to Satan. Naturally his response is along the lines of “Satan can’t offer what doesn’t belong to him”. To put this into modern context, our authorities have put us through a “Lockdown ritual” culminating in the offer: “Take this vaccine, sign up for this vaccine pass, and we will give you back your freedom as a reward”. My response: “You cannot reward me that to which I am already freely entitled”.
I strongly suspect that if Jesus were to return to Earth in the present day, he would hardly be recognised by many alleged Christians. This Archbishop and his followers would probably be the first to call for him to be crucified all over again.
