So where do we begin with the economy of this country? The poor, old, limping New Zealand economy.

Well, when one steps back and looks at the economic overview, there are really five economic arteries that should never be severed from the heart of any country’s economy. And those five are:
1.) Finances.
2.) Communication.
3.) Energy.
4.) Water.
5.) Transportation.
Without these, our economy will fail and it will never recover. Despite the promises of politicians who pushed the privatisation agenda telling us of course that in doing so we would experience greater efficiency and lower costs through competition. Despite all of that, nothing of the sort has ever been delivered for the people. It was a con. It was a lie. And to all intents and purposes it was potentially a treasonous act.

Remember when First-Past-the-Post prevented ego-centric splinter parties to enter Parliament let alone government? — the more of them, the less chance as they split and dilute minority votes. But climate change is real: All countries have destroyed much more than half of their original forests; Europe took many hundred years, NZ just 100 years, while Brazil only needed decades. During the same period we have increased burning (direct heating, esp. by using fossil fuels incl. nuclear energy) several-billion-fold, while practicing ego-centristic self-deluding unlimited expansion by rich (incl. royal) bully boys that are now again waging war against everyone else (us).
Nature’s physics unavoidably always produces results to any activity/movement/change, but which often appear as “noise” due to delays, overwhelming multiple influences (variables) and resulting lack of recognising knowledge. For example: The winter after forest fires is colder, because the heavy moisture-laden smoke moves towards the equator due to earth’s rotation, thus drawing polar air to the burnt landscape, which in turn is replenished by warmer air from other regions causing a warmer polar climate … A reality “lab” test which simple-minds interpret as proof of colder climate. Let’s start fires to prove this?…
British-empire-conditioned ignorant-naïve arrogance now asks for 100% causal proof — once you get it, it will be too late. If our brain is not good enough to overcome blinding egocentrism, then we deserve extinction: It only achieved constant destruction in every aspect, incl. dictators’ wars (now “pandemics”), amounting to war against life itself! If someone wages war against you, he gives you the fundamental self-defence right to kill him as true natural (planetary) justice…

The British empire is long gone Fritz. The biggest empirical threat extant currently is the CCP’s many-tentacled monster.
I also question your claims about “fossil fuels” and the entire carbon narrative in fact. Nuclear waste and environmental pollution from toxic waste (including the vast toxic sludge pits of China and Russia from lithium mining) the ticking time bomb of nuclear waste are far deadlier issues.
400ppm of atmospheric CO2 is fine. It will help those rapidly respawning rainforests grow back even faster:)

As NZ is under the British monarch, there are still many of British descent who suffer from that conditioning, and some silently wish the empire back. I do not accept the official carbon narrative either (nuclear energy does not produce carbon dioxide), which is only a secondary product of heating-by-burning. Rainforests (better than introduced pine monocultures) can only regrow if we give them the space for it, like strategically setting aside margins on current farms, also for birds etc. to have a place to live for eating pests in adjacent fields.
Forests also act as a foam soaking-up water, thus reducing draughts and floods. The razing of landscapes, recently for dairy-cow-grass expansions, removed any shelter, so that they indeed need that additional grass to keep warm in tougher conditions… Today’s barren landscapes are a reflection of earlier uncompromising British-empire and feudal-power attitudes/conditioning… mainstreamed simple-minds refuse to see this.

Fritz, we’ve been through the subject of the British monarchy and “The Crown” as an entity in great detail. several times. apparently you weren’t paying attention or have a short memory.
“Todays barren landscapes” are a reflection of thousands of acres of forest being burned down, by both the Maori (in pursuit of Moa) AND by subsequent colonists for the reasons you stated. Maori are by no means the pure and innocent guardians of nature. We were all ignorant back in those times. At least the British Empire had abolished slavery, something the tribal inhabitants of Aotearoa were still happily engaged in at the time.
In the ensuing centuries, we’ve all learned and are becoming more forward-thinking and environmentally conscious.
The unfortunate part is that the whole environmental movement has been hijacked by the same aggressively Communist interests that are actively sowing division and hatred behind the scenes.
Frustratingly therefore, the good work we’ve been doing to A: heal past wrongdoings, and B: Improve our management of the environment, is being undone by underhand and insidious means by the same influences that wish to demonize European colonialism. The same influences that have a huge chip on their shoulder against Britain over Hong Kong and the Opium trade.
China is the nation you should be shining the spotlight on Fritz. Mind you, the CCP is only a puppey of a larger evil that doesn’t recognise national identity in any shape or form. depends how deep you want to dig.
