Inconvenient Truths by Jennifer Zeng
First-hand information from China:
“My friend in foreign trade shared today that a batch of kitchenware products meant for the U.S. market had already been paid for with a deposit by American clients, and the goods were packed and shipped. “Now, due to high tariffs imposed upon arrival, the clients chose to ‘not pick up the goods and not pay.’ For the American clients, they lost tens of thousands of dollars in deposits. For the Chinese manufacturer, goods worth 6 million RMB ($834K) are now stuck in their hands. “More critically, both sides’ tariff proposals target the ‘country of origin,’ and now it has entered a state of mutual harm. Strict inspections will inevitably be enforced to implement tariffs, making it very difficult for packaged goods to evade tariffs through transshipment trade.”

“A war could solve many problems for Xi Jinping: first, the economy would no longer be so important; second, he could suppress opposing factions within the CCP, using an external reason to prove the legitimacy of Communist Party rule to the Chinese people.”
Expert: CCP May Invade Taiwan to Counter Tariff War, Citing PLA Insider Info
China issues expert Alexander Liao recently told The Epoch Times that, facing a tariff war, the CCP is very likely to resort to invading Taiwan to turn the situation around. Insider information he recently obtained from the CCP military seems to confirm his view. According to Liao’s sources within the CCP military, the People’s Liberation Army issued an internal bulletin, with key points including:
1⃣ First, a war over Taiwan is inevitable. The situation may resemble the Korean War, during which peace talks were held for over two years amidst the fighting.
2⃣ Second, a war between China and the United States is inevitable.
3⃣Third, the People’s Liberation Army distributed badges of the various U.S. military branches to Chinese soldiers for study, so they can identify the enemy’s military branches in combat.
“The atmosphere within the People’s Liberation Army is quite tense,” Liao said. He added: “A war could solve many problems for Xi Jinping: first, the economy would no longer be so important; second, he could suppress opposing factions within the CCP, using an external reason to prove the legitimacy of Communist Party rule to the Chinese people.”
Liao grew up in the context of the CCP military system, was stationed in Hong Kong for many years, and later became an experienced journalist and head of a Hong Kong news bureau.
