The infamous Roswell UFO crash really happened, a Texas cop claims in a newly surfaced interview.
Sheriff Jess Slaughter and his deputy, Charles Fogus, heard police radio reports of a crashed aircraft in early July 1947 and decided to investigate, reports UK paper The Mirror.
When they came across the site the pair saw alien bodies being loaded onto trucks, Mr Fogus says in a 1999 interview that’s never been made public before.
“The bodies must have been five-feet tall,” he explains. “I saw the legs and feet on some of them. They looked like our feet. The skin was a brownish colour, like they were in the sun too long. There were soldiers there, about 300 or 400 of them.”
They were asked to leave about 20 minutes later.
The newly surfaced interview was recorded and conducted by private investigator Deanna Short in 1999, and is revealed in new book UFOs Today – 70 Years of Lies, Misinformation and Government Cover-Up, written by Dr Irena Scott.
“This book features the testimony of a former US Deputy Sheriff who was an alleged witness to the UFO crash at Roswell in 1947,” Dr Scott said in a statement.
“This gentleman’s unique testimony will be published here for the first time.”
Though media initially reported a “flying saucer” had crashed, the Army quickly swooped in to clarify it was just a weather balloon. That killed the story, until the late 1970s when UFO researchers began claiming publicly the US government had covered up an encounter with extra-terrestrials.
In the 1990s the Army revealed the debris was actually a top-secret balloon designed to detect atomic weapons tests by the Soviet Union, and the alien bodies witnesses claim to have seen were just test dummies.
Mr Fogus’ experience in 1947 made him a believer.
“The Great Father didn’t just make this planet, he made all of them,” he said in the interview.
“He put beings on these planets just like he put us on this one. They’re smarter than we are. They can get from there to here, but we can’t get from here to there.”
The Roswell incident is perhaps the most famous UFO conspiracy of the 20th century, and has inspired numerous movies and TV series.
Mr Fogus has since died.

“I met the late Dr Wernher Von Braun in early 74, at that time Von Braun was dying of cancer, but he assured me that he would live a few more years in order to tell me about the game that was being played, that game being the effort to weaponize space, to control Earth from space and space itself.
He asked me to be his spokesperson, to appear on occasions when he was to ill to speak, and I did. The enemy at first he said, the enemy against whom we’re going to build a space based weapons system . . . First the Russians are going to be considered the enemy . . . then terrorists would be identified and that was soon to follow . . . then we were going to identify third world crazies, we now call them nations of concern. . . . The next enemy was asteroids . . . [and] against asteroids we’re going to build space based weapons.
And the funniest one of all, was against what he called aliens, extraterrestrials, that would be the final card. And over, and over, and over during the four years that I knew him and was giving his speeches for him, he would bring up that last card.
‘And remember Carol, the last card is the alien card. We’re going to have to build space based weapons against aliens,’ and all of it, he said, is a lie.”
