What a bizarre, almost Monty-Pythonesque week it has been. The grand announcement here in Southern Hemisphere that the Aussie-NZ COVID “travel bubble” is imminent met with a wave of euphoria, tinged with a hint of confusion as Ardern declares on live TV that NZ should be viewed “another State of Australia”.
Hardly a day goes by and the euphoria plummets as an MIQ (Managed Quarantine) worker is announced to have contracted COVID -19. But, hang on, aren’t all MIQ workers supposed to have either been vacc’ed or removed to non-essential positions? (Excuse: he missed both jab appointments due to “other commitments”, can’t say I blame him really).
The government assures us, however, that 90% of all MIQ workers have been jabbed…but they don’t actually know how many MIQ workers they have. Seriously.
Even the Tamestream Media scratched their heads attempting to figure out what 90% of “we don’t know” amounts to.
Simultaneously, it comes out in the emergency press conference addressing the above issue, that an alarming number of arrivals from India are entering MIQ with COVID symptoms. This had today created a brewing shitstorm as a result of new border restrictions. Welcome aboard Australia, India please keep away. One sees the potential for all sorts of trouble on the rapidly approaching horizon.
All this pales into insignificance, however, when a brief news item reveals Russia’s imminent plan to test a “Doomsday bomb” in the Arctic Circle. Rather frightening considering the escalating tensions in Ukraine; a situation practically ignored by NZ news media, who would rather focus on yet another Youth “climate strike”, essentially an excuse to wag off school and wave a placard while demonstrating a naive ignorance of climate science and geopolitics, all orchestrated by a small but noisy group of Marxists intent on dismantling Western society by brainwashing young minds.
I’m not too old to remember being a youth myself. We protested against the imminent “end of the world as we know it” due to a threat of Russia and the US and allies stockpiling nuclear weapons in quantities large enough to annihilate several Earths. Now on the very day that kids are protesting against short-term computer-modelling predictions about CO2 and the evil Capitalist-Colonialism that’s destroying the world, a genuine and very frightening nuclear detonation that REALLY threatens the environment is blithely ignored.

The expression “Useful Idiots” has never been so relevant as it is today.
Yuri Breshmenov was right. Why aren’t they teaching Breshmenov in schools? Because he was right, that’s why.
