The Justice Minister has today shown how out of his depth he is on Newshub Nation as he was unable to provide any clarity around his proposed hate speech laws.

When interpreting the law, courts often look to speeches from the Minister responsible to see what Parliament really intended a law to mean, they won’t get any help from Kris Faafoi, who couldn’t answer what speech was likely to face prosecution.
Millennials criticising Boomers for the housing crisis? Feminists calling out transgender athletes? Faafoi simply shrugged his shoulders.
That’s because he can’t say.
Hate speech is subjective and politicised. Faafoi knows Police will end up facing pressure to prosecute people with unpopular views.
When they face that pressure, the first thing they’ll think is ‘well, even the guy behind this law didn’t know.’
The last thing our hard-working and already overstretched police want is to be pulled into enforcing an unclear and ambiguous political project by the Labour Party.
Faafoi showed today he simply doesn’t know how the laws will work or what will be included.
He admitted that people with unpopular views could face longer behind bars than someone who assaults a child.
Jacinda Ardern previously described the kind of language Labour would make unlawful: “…when you see it, you know it”.
Threatening others or inciting violence should be illegal, but tests as subjective as ‘offensive’ or ‘insulting’ should never be used to prosecute offences.
This law has failed at the first test for a law, clarity. From here the Minister will only cause more confusion, and damage New Zealanders’ basic rights. He should cancel his ham-fisted attempt to put cancel culture on steroids.
ACT will continue to fight this law which will do nothing but divide society even further and ultimately increase hateful attitudes in our society.

Martin comments: Not often I agree with a politician, but I agree with Seymour wholeheartedly. The ridiculous part is that the government is asking for public submissions; yet neither We The People nor, apparently, the government itself, knows exactly what we’re writing submissions about. The little we know smacks of Canada’s infamous Bill C16-the poorly drafted and self-contradictory Bill that Jordan Peterson valiantly opposed (to no avail).
I strongly suspect that the invitation for public submission is just another Delphi Technique game (“the deal is done but we’ll make the proletariat feel involved”). One thing I picked up on when the MSM was talking this bill was mention of “Political speech” being a component. Now THAT sounds truly totalitarian: Watch what you say about Aunty Jacinda, there might be knock on the door inthe middle of the night and a cop car idling at the gate…

Well the Scamdemic is an example why lying politicians would want this type of law so that the people cannot get access to the truth behind this political agenda. This week the CDC has come out and said the RT-PCR covid test is a total failure and cannot differentiate between the Sars Cov2 virus and influenza and have withdrawn the emergency use Permission because of this. They have also stated that Vaccinated people are the main spreader of this virus which is no more dangerous than a bad case of the flu. About a month ago they said that at least 95% of the deaths attributed to Covid19 were people who would have died that same day whether they had covid or didn’t have it meaning that Covid was NOT the primary cause of death. These discussions need to be allowed so people can see that Jacinda’s scare tactics are just B.S. and a Vaccine that has hundreds of patents on it as a bioweapon and costing over a billion dollars is not needed at all. As some of the top former vaccine makers have come out and said Vaccines contain up to 300 diseases that cannot be filtered out of them and that no vaccine can be considered safe. This info should not be censored so that people can make an informed decision as it is illegal to even administer and experimental Medication on anyone without first disclosing what is contains and all the risks involved. Even the head of Phiser NZ told me that the info from Dr Doomfield Jacinda and the minister of health is completely false but everyone is too scared to say so publicly or too censored to say so. This is NOT the democracy I grew up in and I don’t like it.
