Fukushima Plant Owner To Dump 777,000 Tons Of Nuclear Waste Into Pacific Ocean

Fukushima waste dump

By: theantimedia.org |
Japan — More than three-quarters of a million tons of radioactive water is about to be dumped into the Pacific Ocean if the chairmen of the Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) and the Nuclear Regulation Authority (NRA) have their way, Japanese media reported over the weekend. All they require now is final government approval.
“The decision has already been made,” TEPCO chairman Takashi Kawamura told the media, according to the Japan Times.
As of July 6, about 777,000 tons of tritium-tainted water is being stored in about 580 tanks at the Fukushima nuclear plant. The water, which is constantly injected into leaking reactor No. 1 to cool it since it was damaged by a tsunami in 2011, is then filtered to remove radioactive materials. The complex filtering system can eliminate everything but tritium.

This has left the Japanese government with a problem. They can’t go on filling up tanks forever. Something has to be done with the radioactive water. A government panel is currently coming to a decision on the issue, and simply dumping the water into the sea is an option on the table.
TEPCO chairman Kawamura is just waiting on the green light. “We cannot keep going if we do not have the support of the state,” he told the media.
Kawamura certainly has the support of NRA chairman Shunichi Tanaka, who’s been urging the TEPCO boss to make the move. Tanaka has been critical of Kawamura in the past, saying he should be more proactive in his handling of the Fukushima nuclear crisis.
“An operator lacking the will to take the initiative does not have the right to resume operation of nuclear reactors,” he said recently at a special meeting with TEPCO’s top management.
According to the Japan Times, Kawamura “feels emboldened to have the support of the NRA chairman.”
Tritium itself is said to be relatively harmless, and discharge of tritium-tainted water into the ocean is standard operating procedure at nuclear power plants. Oceanographer Simon Boxall spoke to The Guardian on the tritium issue last year, saying:
“In the broad scale of things, if they do end up putting the material in the Pacific, it will have minimal effect on an ocean basin scale.”
But local fishermen say the actual harmfulness of tritium isn’t the issue. What’s paramount is the perception people will have when they hear of hundreds of thousands of tons of radioactive water being released into the ocean. In short, such a move would make customers question the safety of their catches, which would thereby affect their livelihoods.
“Releasing (tritium) into the sea will create a new wave of unfounded rumors, making our efforts all for naught,” Kanji Tachiya, who heads a fishermen cooperative, told the Japan Times.
And Aileen Mioko-Smith of Green Action Japan says there is even more to consider here. “They say that it will be safe because the ocean is large so it will be diluted,” she told The Telegraph, “but that sets a precedent that can be copied, essentially permitting anyone to dump nuclear waste into our seas.”
Furthermore, says Mioko-Smith, those in charge of managing the Fukushima nuclear crisis have had plenty of time to come up with solutions and that the “out of sight, out of mind” approach is unacceptable:
“This accident happened more than six years ago and the authorities should have been able to devise a way to remove the tritium instead of simply announcing that they are going to dump it into the ocean.”

Fukushima: Japanese Government Guilty Of Destroying Pacific Ocean

News

Source:Neon Nettle

The Japanese Government has been ordered to pay tens of millions in compensation after it was found guilty of negligence causing the Fukushima nuclear disaster.Reports also claim that the ruling could also include other pacific nations like the US who could also be eligible for compensation from the Japanse government who have effectively poisoned the entire Pacific Ocean and damaged the world’s food chain beyond repair.YNW reports: The nuclear plant operator, Tokyo Electric Power Co. Holdings, was also found guilty of negligence that led to the disaster that nuclear experts say will likely continue affecting wildlife and humans for the next 250,000 years.

Friday’s stunning ruling by the Maebashi District Court was the first to recognize negligence by the state and Tepco. Previously the Japanese government and Tepco, a subsidiary of General Electric, had strongly denied any wrongdoing, arguing they were the victims of bad luck. The judge called the massive tsunami “predictable” and said the major nuclear disaster, which is responsible for 300 tons of radioactive water entering the Pacific Ocean every single day, could have been avoided.According to Japan Times: The district court ordered the two to pay damages totaling ¥38.55 million to 62 of 137 plaintiffs from 45 households located near the plant, which suffered a triple meltdown caused by the tsunami, awarding ¥70,000 to ¥3.5 million in compensation to each plaintiff. The plaintiffs had demanded the state and Tepco pay compensation of ¥11 million each — a total of about ¥1.5 billion — over the loss of local infrastructure and psychological stress they were subjected to after being forced to relocate to unfamiliar surroundings.Citing a government estimate released in July 2002, the court said in the ruling that “Tepco was capable of foreseeing several months after (the estimate) that a large tsunami posed a risk to the facility and could possibly flood its premises and damage safety equipment, such as the backup power generators.”It pointed out that the state should have ordered Tepco to take bolstered preventive measures, and criticized the utility for prioritizing costs over safety.Fukushima Radiation Has Contaminated The Entire Pacific OceanThe nuclear disaster has contaminated the world’s largest ocean in only five years and it’s still leaking 300 tons of radioactive waste every day.According to a True Activist report: Radioactive Debris from Fukushima approaching North America’s western coast. If that weren’t bad enough, Fukushima continues to leak an astounding 300 tons of radioactive waste into the Pacific Ocean every day. It will continue do so indefinitely as the source of the leak cannot be sealed as it is inaccessible to both humans and robots due to extremely high temperatures. It should come as no surprise, then, that Fukushima has contaminated the entire Pacific Ocean in just five years. This could easily be the worst environmental disaster in human history and it is almost never talked about by politicians, establishment scientists, or the news. It is interesting to note that TEPCO is a subsidiary partner with General Electric (also known as GE), one of the largest companies in the world, which has considerable control over numerous news corporations and politicians alike. Could this possibly explain the lack of news coverage Fukushima has received in the last five years? There is also evidence that GE knew about the poor condition of the Fukushima reactors for decades and did nothing. This led 1,400 Japanese citizens to sue GE for their role in the Fukushima nuclear disaster – and now have been found guilty.

Even if we can’t see the radiation itself, some parts of North America’s western coast have been feeling the effects for years. Not long after Fukushima, fish in Canada began bleeding from their gills, mouths, and eyeballs. This “disease” has been ignored by the government and has decimated native fish populations, including the North Pacific herring.Elsewhere in Western Canada, independent scientists have measured a 300% increase in the level of radiation. According to them, the amount of radiation in the Pacific Ocean is increasing every year. Why is this being ignored by the mainstream media? It might have something to do with the fact that the US and Canadian governments have banned their citizens from talking about Fukushima so “people don’t panic.”

Further south in Oregon, USA, starfish began losing legs and then disintegrating entirely when Fukushima radiation arrived there in 2013. Now, they are dying in record amounts, putting the entire oceanic ecosystem in that area at risk. However, government officials say Fukushima is not to blame even though radiation in Oregon tuna tripled after Fukushima. In 2014, radiation on California beaches increased by 500 percent. In response, government officials said that the radiation was coming from a mysterious “unknown” source and was nothing to worry about. However, Fukushima is having a bigger impact than just the West coast of North America. Scientists are now saying that the Pacific Ocean is already radioactive and is currently at least 5-10 times more radioactive than when the US government dropped numerous nuclear bombs in the Pacific during and after World War II. If we don’t start talking about Fukushima soon, we could all be in for a very unpleasant surprise.

2017, The Year Of Fukushima?

Could this be a factor in the Elites heading for Antarctica?

Is this article correct and the world is in dire trouble?

What do you think?

Please share your thoughts.

By Stefan Stanford – All News Pipeline – Live Free Or Die

Back on January 29th we reported on what scientists were calling a ‘devastating, alarming and dire’ situation unfolding along the We… that had scientists ‘mystified’ and ‘stumped’ with sea life from Alaska to California continuing to suffer a massive series of die-off’s with no end in sight.

What was then our first Fukushima update in several months, we’ve been urged by recent news to revisit what is going on there once again after the Drudge Report linked to this story from Japan Today which reported that nearly 6 years after the devastatingearthquake and tsunami struck the plant, record radiation levels have been detected inside the #2 reactor.

As the Guardian reports, the ‘extraordinary radiation levels’ being detected now are the highes… since the 2011 meltdown. They also report the extremely high readings “highlight the scale of the task confronting thousands of workers, as pressure builds on Tepco to begin decommissioning the plant – a process that is expected to take about four decades.”

Measuring an estimated 530 sieverts per hour, Japan Today reports that radiation level can kill after even only a brief exposure, alevel other nuclear experts have called “unimaginable” and a level that far exceeds the previous high radiation level measured there, only 73 sieverts per hour.

According to medical experts quoted in their story, a dose of only 4 sieverts of radiation would kill one of every two people. They also report that 1 sievert alone could lead to infertility, the loss of hair and cataracts while increasing the risk of cancer.

And even though we aren’t there, why should we be concerned, and where is all of this radiation now going? This recent story from ENENews reports upon exactly why we should be concerned about what is happening half-a-world-away.

Reporting that US states have been hit with ‘extremely large peaks’ of Fukushima’s radioactive material and a ‘significant of amount of plutonium’ has been released for months on end, they also share proof the radiation is going all around the world and can be ‘measured globally’ with this stunner: “it blanketed the entire Northern hemisphere”.

Another sign that we should be concerned is this very interesting new story that Steve Quayle just linked to from the Daily Mail that reports that “tech billionaires are building boltholes in New Zealand”. Reporting that the ‘super rich’ are quietly preparing for ‘the apocalypse’, they also allude to the fact that in a WW3 scenario, the Southern hemisphere would likely be more safe than the Northern hemisphere should full-scale nuclear war break out between nuclear superpowers.

As the graphic seen above points out, one nuclear reactor is as dangerously radioactive as an entire nuclear war. And with the total meltdown of several nuclear reactors at Fukushima and the resultant radioactive poisons they have released now competely blanketing the entire Northern Hemisphere, is THAT why so many of the rich are moving into the Southern hemisphere?

Another recent story from ENENews reports the Fukushima calamity was ‘far worse than previously thought’ and with the mainstream media still mostly ignoring what is happening to the Pacific Ocean and to our country and much of the world from the odorless, invisible death that is continuously pouring into our atmosphere, an official in Japan has warned that was happened there recently”is a very big turning point”…and not for ‘the best’.

The two most recent stories from ENENews over the last two days report more bad news. Warning of a gaping hole in a grate under the containment vessel, they also report the hole was likely caused by melting radioactive fuel which ate through the containmentvessel. Then yesterday ENE reported that collapse was imminent at Fukushima after officials found a large section under reactor wass “unstable and about to collapse” — “Bad, bad news… Time to reconsider that trip to the east coast of Japan” they also reported.

In the 4 videos below we hear all about these recent news stories from Fukushima with our videographer in the first video reporting that things are much worse than we’d originally been told, especially for those who have consistently been getting their news from CNN, MSNBC and the ‘rapidly evaporating’ mainstream media.

In the 2nd video our videographer shares with us why he feels 2017 will be ‘the year of Fukushima’ with the disaster finally beginning to get the attention it deserves as things continue to spin wildly out of control there. Reminding us of the signs we’ve been getting recently and over the past several years, such as mass animal deaths around the world and in the oceans as shared in …, we see why Fukushima will continue to be a global disaster for at least the next 40 years.

Breaking: Japan 7.3 Earthquake

Site Icon -SmallIt’s 2011 all over again. Big shake in New Zealand followed by big quake in Japan.

A tsunami warning has been issued after a 7.3 magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of Japan.

The quake hit early on Tuesday, local time, 67 km northeast of Iwaki and at a depth of 10km, the US Geological Survey said.

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre said, “Hazardous tsunami waves are possible for coasts located within 300km of the earthquake epicentre”.

More to come…

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2016-11-21/urgent-tsunami-warning-issued-after-quake-off-fukushima-in-japan

6.9             magnitude earthquake off eastern Japan near Fukushima prefecture has prompted a tsunami warning of possible 3m (10ft) waves.

The quake struck on Tuesday morning at about 06:00 local time (21:00 GMT, Monday), the Japan Meteorological Agency said.

The depth of the quake was estimated to be around 11km (7 miles).

In 2011, a large tsunami caused by a quake destroyed the Fukushima nuclear power plant.

Broadcaster NHK said Tokyo Electric Power was checking the plant for damage.

There were no immediate reports of damage or casualties but tremors were felt in Tokyo and residents were urged to evacuate some coastal areas.

Ships could be seen moving away from the coast of Fukushima prefecture.

So far, a wave of 60cm (2ft) has arrived in Onahama Port in Fukushima, NHK reported, but the warning of possible larger waves remains in force.

The US Geological Survey initially put the magnitude at 7.3 but later downgraded this to 6.9.

Japan lies in a particularly seismically active region and accounts for around 20% of quakes worldwide of magnitude 6.0 or more.

At least 50 people died in two quakes in the southern Kumamoto prefecture in April.

More than 18,000 were killed or reported missing following the 2011 Fukushima disaster.

JAPANESE NUCLEAR DISASTER: IS THIS A CLUE?

Iran-Japan trade rising despite sanctions

An Israeli company reportedly was in charge of “security” at the
Fukushima nuclear plant where the backup safety systems all failed.
These systems were also reportedly controlled by Seimens computer
technology. Seimens was the company that provided the controlling
technology for the Iranian nuclear centrifuges, which technology was
disabled and destroyed by the Mossad-created “Stuxnet” virus. Japan
was also reportedly warned a feww months ago by US Defense Secretary
Robert Gates of negative consequences should Japan follow an
independent course and evict the US from its military base in
Okinawa. Just connecting a few dots here. – Sherlock

Sayonara, Tokyo

Sayonara, Tokyo
March 28th 2011

And so begins the radioactive ruination of Japan, and much of the
rest of the world, at the hands of the nuclear demons unleashed in
Fukushima by General Electric and the Tokyo Electric Power Company
(TEPCO). The harsh reality, the cruel truth of the matter, is that
this ghastly crisis is going to last months or maybe years, and maybe
even a very, very long lot of years, given that the half-life of
plutonium 239 is twenty-four thousand years.

But don’t take my word for it. Here it is straight from the horse’s
mouth, a bit evasive, but nevertheless a tolerable admission of the
truth:

“’Regrettably, we don’t have a concrete schedule at the moment to
enable us to say in how many months or years (the crisis will be
over),’ TEPCO vice-president Sakae Muto said …” (1)

Months or years, the man says. Meanwhile, by the day, the crisis
spirals more and more out of control and radiation levels are soaring
to their highest levels since the reactors first began melting down
and exploding. (2,3,4)

Tokyo is only about 160 miles from the site of the reactors that are
melting down. As radiation levels rise in the region it is a firm
guarantee that more and more radioactivity will fall out on Tokyo.

No doubt about it.

The inevitable consequence of that will be a dramatic withering of
the cultural, social, commercial and economic life of the huge Tokyo
megalopolis. As more and more people abandon Tokyo it will become a
radioactive shadow of its former self. Of course the economic
implications of that for global finance and commerce are immense,
Tokyo is one of the three major centers of high finance in the world,
along with London and New York, so its abandonment therefore has
ineluctable repercussions that will rock the modern, global
civilization to its core.

Do you think I’m full of it? That I don’t know what I’m talking about?

Tell that to the 25 foreign governments that have already either
closed their embassies in Tokyo, or have evacuated Tokyo and moved
their embassies to Osaka. (5)

Tell that to the international bankers who are now fleeing Tokyo and
Japan in droves. (6)

Tell that to the U.S. Navy which announced on March 17th that it was
prepared to evacuate as many as 87,000 personnel if necessary. (7)

Tell that to the USO that announced two days later on March 19th that
the U.S. Military has begun a voluntary evacuation of up to 200,000
military personnel and their dependents from Japan. (8, 9)

While all of this has been going on the Japanese government has also
urged more evacuations and quietly widened the evacuation zone around
the melting down Fukushima reactors. (10, 11)

The plain English translation of all of this activity is that the
evacuation of Fukushima, of Japan, and of Tokyo, has already begun.
Large numbers of people are already “voluntarily” on the move and
fleeing from harm’s way. The longer the crisis grinds on, the greater
the numbers of people who will leave.

The impact on Japan, Tokyo and the world is incalculable. The
dominoes are just beginning to topple and where this concatenation of
catastrophic events will finally end, no one can say with certainty
just yet.

But I can promise you this much: The Mother Of All Radioactive Roller
Coaster Rides has left the starting gate and life will never again be
the same for any of us. These weeks, thus, effectively mark the end
of one era, and implicitly herald the beginning of another.

We are in new territory now, uncharted, radioactive territory and as
this crisis grinds on, one of its initial big victims will assuredly
be the city of Tokyo. If these reactors cannot be brought under
control then its fate is all but sealed.

Like swarming rats fleeing a sinking ship, the mass exodus of
“international bankers” from Tokyo and Japan over the past two weeks
has a transparently plain meaning: it’s finished, it’s over.

So, sayonara, Tokyo. What comes next will not be pleasant.

EACH SPENT FUEL POOL = 24,000 X RADIATION OF HIROSHIMA: ONE HAS BURNED ALREADY

NOTE FROM JEFF:  This is an excerpt from the article I just sent.  It’s the first actual quantification of radiation emission I’ve seen from credible sources, and it’s very very scary.  So far we know FOR SURE that at least one spent fuel pool has totally burned up into the atmosphere.  So the MINIMUM possible radiation leakage is at 24,000 Hiroshimas.

https://www.globalresearch.ca/index.php?context=va&aid=23764

Amongst the most troubling and most deeply underplayed questions of the entire crisis concern the Fukushima Spent Fuel Pools. These basin are packed with tons of irradiated fuel rods that need to be cooled. One of the major postulated accident scenarios involves a Loss-of-Coolant Accident (LOCA) to the reactor core, but a LOCA event can also occur with a spent fuel pool. It has. Fires and explosions in Japan. The Spent Fuel Pools at the six Fukushima reactors are NOT inside primary containment. They are exposed. Burning. About to burn.

Reactors No. 4, 5, and 6 at Fukushima were shutdown when the earthquake struck. After the water drained and the spent fuel became exposed, the pool at reactor No. 4 caught fire, and continues to burn, as of Thursday March 17, releasing massive amounts of radiation into the environment. The status of the other six spent fuel pools at Fukushima is unknown. A courageous U.S. journalist Rachel Maddow explored the spent fuel pool issue with a former government official. The most important, critical point made by Princeton professor Frank Von Hippel occurs at minute 14:19 — where Rachel Maddow talks over him: these are LONG-LIFE RADIONUCLIDES being emitted from the spent fuel pool(s). Isotopes of cesium: Cs-137 has a half-life of 30 years and will be around and hot for decades.

How much disaster are we talking about? The atomic bomb that exploded at Hiroshima created about 2000 curies of radioactivity. The spent fuel pools at Vermont Yankee Nuclear Plant (U.S.) are said to hold about 75 million curies. There are six spent fuel pools at Fukushima, but the numbers of tons of fuel rods in each have not been made public.

The Nuclear Information and Resource Service (NIRS) did the math: If Fukushima’s Reactor No. 4 operated for 35 years and produced 30 tons of irradiated fuel per year and each ton is equivalent to 24 times the amount of cesium-137 produced by the Hiroshima bomb, then each fuel pool could contain on the order of 24,000 times the amount of cesium-137 produced by the Hiroshima bomb, if all the produced irradiated fuel remains in the fuel pool.
